Ok, anybody that has read almost anything I have ever written, knows that my day off consists of a period starting about 4pm Friday until about midnight, before and after, I am here, online, doing something. Yes, during this time, I drink beer with a buddy, who makes tie dye T-shirts, and just vent about and try to forget this online world! See the picture? That is me on Friday! I try to bury my head in beer, so to speak, but………….

What usually happens is, I write and share my opinions, and believe me, I have plenty!

This is the time that I take to just kick back and do nothing, but, it almost always leads to an extended tour of duty here, telling everyone, everything I never had time to say before! So, that out of the way, here goes…..

First off, I just set the surfbar bonus to something ridiculous, like 5,000 credits every 20 pages! Who wants to bet that NO ONE but me ever even sees this? Thats ok, those that surf late, may start looking here on Friday nights, just to see if I have set up some crazy bonus! How long will I leave it? Until I wake up! If you are reading this, and you missed out, well, sorry, maybe next Friday?

This isn’t a normal Friday post, there is are a few things that I need to address now, before it gets out of hand.

As the site grows, and more new members sign up, as with any traffic exchange, there are those that register just for the bonus credits, but that does not happen here! So, if that is your intention, don’t even bother to register!

It is becoming clear that there are some rules that I need to make clear, so I am doing that now! I am an easy going kind of guy, and a fellow surfer, so I will not impose any restrictions on anyone else that I won’t follow myself, it is quite simple really, follow these rules and you won’t get bothered!

1. Suspended sites will be deleted! Getting your site suspended is not the end of the world, but all sites that are suspended, from Monday through Friday, will be deleted over the weekend! Many times there are credits allocated to these sites, and if you don’t go to the Allocate Credits section and deduct them yourself, they will be lost! So, if you see that a site has been suspended, do this by Saturday at 01:00 Central time, that is when they will be deleted! Starting tonight!
2. New Members Must Surf! This is a biggie, when a new member registers, they are required to view at least 100 pages to get their sites activated, but, from now on, there is a time limit! New members must surf those 100 pages within 2 days! That is more than ample time, it only takes less than an hour, so get surfing, those members that haven’t surfed the required amount, within that time limit will be deleted!
3. All Sites Must Have Credits! This one is the easiest to follow, with the surfbar bonuses, and the way that I hand out credits, no one should ever have a problem keeping plenty of credits allocated to their sites. From now on, sites with zero (0) credits will be suspended! (See Rule #1) Being the nice guy that I am, I may add credits to a members site, if we have had a busy night or something, but sites that have no credits for a day or two, will get suspended. You can avoid this, by simply clicking the black arrow to the right of your site and placing it “On Hold”, I will not delete it.
4. Sites that are not Allowed: If I approve a site, that later changes, and becomes a problem, or any site that violates the rules, (PTP, PTC, ADULT, NOISE, Etc.) will have a bounty on it! Yes, we need active surfers, and if you don’t feel that your site breaks the rules, submit it, if it is only marginally a violator, I will approve it, but, if it gets reported by 3 members as a problem, it will get suspended, (See Rule #1), no, this doesn’t mean that I want everybody reporting every site they see, just those that are a problem. After a site has been reported by 3 members, I will look at it, if it is a violator, I will issue bonus credits to those that reported it!
5. Members need to subscribe to the feed! Follow this link, SUBSCRIBE, or the one at the top of any TrafficComplex Blog page, and simply subscribe, you can do this using any reader you want, or select to Get TrafficComplex.com delivered by email, this will keep you up to date and keep me from having to send you an email! Those that don’t, won’t be getting any notifications of the contests etc., so Subscribe Now!

The goal here is to have a clean, safe, and friendly site, where people new to surfing don’t have to worry about problems, I know, many of you have sites in rotation now that are “marginal violators”, if you are an active surfer, and maybe the site is legit, I will leave it up to my fellow surfers to decide. This traffic exchange is for everybody, and can be a great community if we all work together, but, it is not entirely a democracy, I have the final say, but everyones input is very important to me, and shapes my decisions, so if you have any issues with these rules, questions, comments or suggestions, please reply to this post below by leaving a comment. May not look like much, but this is with 28 active sites, and maybe 10 members!

I know, this is a new traffic exchange, and you want to wait until it gets established, don’t wait too long!

Yes, there are rules, and Nothing in life is totally FREE, so, here is the fine print, as a Free Founding Member, you must surf, and I mean surf regularly and often! No, you don’t have to surf 24/7, but as often as you can, for as long as you want, and don’t forget the surfbar bonuses!

As a surfer myself, yes, I surf lots of sites, so, based on my experience, I have decided that one thing that bothers me on some sites, is that you don’t know when, or if, the bonus will ever appear! There has been a few times, that I have surfed into the hundreds of page views, watching, waiting, but I never saw a bonus pop up, so, that bothers me, so I won’t ever do that to anyone else!

If you will surf at least 10 pages, you may see one, sometimes it may be 25 pages, it just depends on my mood! I promise, they are there, and if you watch the numbers, page views is what you have to watch, so, when surfing maximized and you are getting that odd number, you may have to do some math, but, it will always be in multiples of 5 pageviews and the longer in between, the bigger the bonus, which will be at least a 1:10 return, so it is worth it to watch for!

I even may post a super sized bonus on there, once we do get busier, that would be like 20, 000 credits for surfing 1000 pages, or even 10,000 credits for surfing 500 pages, hmm, what about 5,000 for viewing 250 pages? The main way to know what is going on, is to look at the post that is on the top of the Home Page, and the Events Calendar, between the two of those and the discussion Board, you will find the answers! If you have read this post I will tell you, from now until the next post, who knows when that will be,the surbar bonus is set to 25 pages and a 250 credit bonus! That means, if you are a new member, surf minimized, and you surf 100 pages, along with your initial 3000 credits, you could have 4100 credits! Here is the biggie, until the next post, the timer will also be set to seven (7) seconds!

Now is the time to get registered and start surfing, if you are a pro surfer, like me, and you are willing to help me out around here, there is a FREE Founding Member upgrade waiting on you! Do you want more visitors to your website?

Did you create a masterpiece site, but you are the only one looking at it?

What can you do to get more people to look at your site? The best place to start is of course the search engines, like Google, Yahoo, MSN, and the others, but how?

The fastest way to get your site indexed is to use Google’s Webmaster Tools, if you don’t have a Google account, get one, then just sign in using your new Google Account information. (Once Google picks it up, the others will follow!)

Once you log in, you will be at the Dashboard, this is where you begin by entering your website information, starting with the URL “http://yoursite.com” , then you need to verify ownership, this is simple, you create a blank html file, named as Google instructs, then upload that to your site’s root directory using an FTP program like SmartFTP, that is my favorite, once you do that, click the Verify button, next, comes the most important part, the sitemap.

For a great sitemap generator go to GSiteCrawler and download it, once that is done, just follow the setup instructions and it will automatically upload it to your site, also in the root directory. If you have a WordPress Blog, there is a plugin, that works great as well, as a matter of fact, the WordPress plugin, Google XML Sitemaps, is so easy and it automatically updates every time you write a post! Anyway, once you have a sitemap, and have it in the proper place, go back to Google Webmaster Tools Dashboard, click the URL for the site you just added, and follow the link for add sitemap, remember it should be in your root directory so the URL should be “http://yoursite.com/sitemap.xml” once that is done, it is time to promote your website!

Always remember, marketing is like a bicycle wheel, the more spokes, the stronger and more true your wheel, so, every method you use is another spoke. Depending on your product and whether you have a “brick and morter” storefront as well as a website, you adjust your marketing plan accordingly. (more…)
