I am sure that you have noticed that I have been sending out a weekly email titled: New User Weekly Update (Read This)

What this is all about is pretty simple, new members not following the RULES! I hate having to send this email, it is a pain in the butt to have to be like a Daddy telling the kid what to do!

New Members Must Surf! This is a biggie, when a new member registers, they are required to view at least 100 pages to get their sites activated, but, from now on, there is a time limit! New members must surf those 100 pages within 2 days! That is more than ample time, it only takes less than an hour, so get surfing, those members that haven’t surfed the required amount, within that time limit will be deleted!

That is what was written previously as the Rule about new members not surfing, but this “2 Day” requirement is too hard for me to keep up with, so, I am changing it to this. Every Tuesday I will send out the above mentioned email warning new members that they must surf the required 100 pages or their account will be DELETED in about 24 hours if they do not surf.

Hey, I am a nice guy, this site is here to help everybody, I don’t want to delete or suspend any sites or accounts, but I have to, it would be unfair to the members that do surf if I just activated everything! Most of our new members do surf at least the required 100 pages, but every week I have about 3 or 4 that don’t, and most of those register over the weekend, usually Friday night for some reason, then never come back!

I send out a welcome email, most of the time, and warn them at that point, and most do come back and surf, but, those few that don’t clutter up my control panel and make it a pain in the ass to even look at the other new sites, so, every Tuesday afternoon or night, I will be sending this “Last Chance” email, then after 10pm, central time, on Wednesday night, these “Inactive” members, will lose their account. I am sorry to have to do this, but that is the way it is, if you want to be a member here, Welcome to the Team! Just like any team, there are always those that get cut, it is not personal, it is just for the good of the team!

If you believe that some magic something will happen, just by investing hour upon hour surfing sites that you have absolutely no interest in, will somehow make you rich, or even an income of a buck or two, you are mistaken!

If you read through this site, you will find many posts that say the same thing, but this one is directed to the newbies! If you are a new “webmaster” and have just published your first website and are looking to get rich from the internet, it won’t happen! If you have a website and just want to get more visitors, this is the place for you!

What makes it worthwhile? Several things can make surfing a good thing for your website, if you have a ‘New’ idea, maybe someone will want to get involved, If you have that “magic” plan, maybe you will get a customer, if you are just here to harvest email addresses for some scam, maybe you will get lucky, I hope not, that is why i write this stuff!

Traffic Exchanges are a wonderful thing, just like email, but there are, and always will be those that use it for the wrong purpose! I like to think that only kids do the dirty stuff, but that is not true, it is the “pro’s’ the ones that know their way around the Internet, like me. I could be one of those snakes, but I wont! That is why I write these things to warn people, even those that are in the middle of being deceived! I hope that by offering the truth, someone will read it and not waste that “buck or two” to find out! I hope that those that have already wasted that “buck or two” and are promoting the junk I am talking about, will also post here and help me!

So, why are we surfing? To get people to look at our websites! Maybe, if you have a legit website, it will help you, and help those looking for what you offer to find you! Other than that, I hope and pray, that those with the bogus stuff, will not find a victim here! If you are new, before you sign up and surf, read and find out what this site can or cannot do for you! I also hope that those that have been,…..confused…..and sign up for that stuff, will tell others about what happened to them!

Did you create a masterpiece site, but you are the only one looking at it?

What can you do to get more people to look at your site? The best place to start is of course the search engines, like Google, Yahoo, MSN, and the others, but how?

The fastest way to get your site indexed is to use Google’s Webmaster Tools, if you don’t have a Google account, get one, then just sign in using your new Google Account information. (Once Google picks it up, the others will follow!)

Once you log in, you will be at the Dashboard, this is where you begin by entering your website information, starting with the URL “http://yoursite.com” , then you need to verify ownership, this is simple, you create a blank html file, named as Google instructs, then upload that to your site’s root directory using an FTP program like SmartFTP, that is my favorite, once you do that, click the Verify button, next, comes the most important part, the sitemap.

For a great sitemap generator go to GSiteCrawler and download it, once that is done, just follow the setup instructions and it will automatically upload it to your site, also in the root directory. If you have a WordPress Blog, there is a plugin, that works great as well, as a matter of fact, the WordPress plugin, Google XML Sitemaps, is so easy and it automatically updates every time you write a post! Anyway, once you have a sitemap, and have it in the proper place, go back to Google Webmaster Tools Dashboard, click the URL for the site you just added, and follow the link for add sitemap, remember it should be in your root directory so the URL should be “http://yoursite.com/sitemap.xml” once that is done, it is time to promote your website!

Always remember, marketing is like a bicycle wheel, the more spokes, the stronger and more true your wheel, so, every method you use is another spoke. Depending on your product and whether you have a “brick and morter” storefront as well as a website, you adjust your marketing plan accordingly.

Lets just say that you have an auto repair shop in Texas, but you also sell cars, you will obviously have your standard ads like phone books, newspaper, maybe even TV and radio, simply make sure that your ad includes your website’s URL so people can find out more about your business. After all, with high gas prices, and a lot of competition, people are looking to learn as much as they can before driving to see you! Now that you have the basics covered, start adding more relevant content to your site, much like this article that you are reading now, that is how the search engines find you and match you up with the actual search the user is performing. This is the most important part of your website promotion plan, getting your website pages indexed!

There are a lot of sites out there claiming to get your site listed in the top 10 results
the first page, and yes it is possible to do, but watch out for the ones that guarantee it! A term you may not know, SEO or Search Engine Optimization, is how you can improve your rankings. quite simply put, that is about getting all the right keywords in the right places and so on. One very important thing is to not forget the images on your site, they need titles and alternate text, which again, if you are using WordPress, is easy, just get the SEO Friendly Images plugin, that will do it automatically as well. Just mouse over the image in this post, you’ll see what I mean.

Next, you will need incoming links from other websites, this isn’t a very easy one and can be a lot of work. However, you can go to LinkMetro and get plenty of incoming links through Link Exchange, what is that? You place a link to your exchange partners site on yours, and they in turn place one to you. Link Metro is great because they verify that both parties have posted a link. Another way is a Link Directory, we will have one here soon, but in the mean time, you can add your link to OpinionHead Links Direcory, and many others. One thing to watch out for is paid links, don’t do it! If Google finds out they will send you to bed without supper! Well, lets just say, it isn’t a good thing. However, there are many paid Link Directories out there and that is ok, just be careful, they shouldn’t cost much. Also, one way links to your site are the best, but the hardest to get, if you have a great site, with useful content, people will link to you, as I linked to others in this post. Another way to get incoming links is to find a place that will allow you to trade them directly, like you can here at TrafficComplex.com just go to the forum, discussion board or whatever you want to call it, and post your info, try to exchange with the same type of site as yours, as above, auto repair shops, that is another big plus.

Ok, you have done all of that, what’s next? TRAFFIC! You need to get visitors to your site, even if, as in the above scenario, you have an auto repair shop in Texas, someone from Ohio, Germany, Australia, Canada, or anyplace else visiting your site shows that your site is interesting, and yes, Google Knows All! Remember, an autosurf site is a wonderful thing for volume, but a manual surf site is better for quality, unless the timer is about 15 seconds or more. This also allows the site time to load completely, however, variable timers like here, we change it according to the amount of volume for a steady surf rotation. The longer someone stays on your site the better, that is why many people will Hijack the surf with a redirect and why pages that do this are always suspended from the surf rotation, the idea behind this is that you aren’t watching anyway, at night or something, and you won’t know that you’ve been redirected, or Hijacked!
